Life in Pulaski County - Life on the Lake and So Much to Do!

Relaxing on Lake Cumberland on a luxury yacht with friends and family, and with premier shopping just 75 miles from us
and local bread & butter pickles from Haney’s – life gets no better!

The amazing life we enjoy starts with Lake Cumberland – one of the largest man-made lakes in the United States, and its six marinas and numerous boat launches. Our area is a "destination" people enjoy visiting and vacationing, but we are fortunate enough to live here. The “city benefits” of Lexington and Louisville are a relatively short drive from us, Nashville is under 3 hours. Knoxville and the majestic Appalachians are under 2 hours away. If there is a center to the world, we may be it!

  • No big city baloney, such as traffic, crime and noise pollution, and no suburbs which look the same. No thanks!
  • A thriving idyllic community you may have dreamed about, where you can have fun and relax and your kids can have healthy fun and play. That’s us!

The city of Somerset is a "Hub," or center point for commerce, education, Arts & entertainment, and shopping for the vast region of southeastern Kentucky – we have the unique combination of being an "oasis" of sorts, but with amenities of communities much larger – this means access to a lot, with no lines, and affordable prices.

And our neighbors exhibit friendliness to visitors – since we meet vacationers through the lake season, we are used to and like new faces, and a genuine concern for our neighbors.& Here you get smiles, a wave from us, and the subtle courtesies that are gone from city life but still in places where people follow "The Golden Rule."

We enjoy two Performing Arts Centers in our region, plus Lexington is an easy 70 mile drive

Lake Cumberland and the charming dock store at Lee’s Ford Marina – we mean it when we say “Welcome!”

On January 19, 1862, the first major battle in the Western theatre of the American Civil War took place right here in Somerset, a Union Victory and now a National Park. Over the last decade, Bill has played an instrumental role in growing this federally funded park, from fundraising, to excavations, to park management. All the hard work and TLC has paid off, as Mill Springs opened in 2006 after receiving $2 million from a federal grant.
